C-O-M-F-Y !!!
I'll admit I am usually skeptical of foam products "sight unseen" after purchasing far too many foam mattresses that make wild and far-fetched claims of "cool sleeping" or "great for back pain", etc. I instead have been sticking with a well known brand pillowtop innerspring that has worked well for a little over 5 years. We like the bounce and movement that innersprings give, and I don't like the feeling of being sucked into foam or unable to move comfortably because I'm stuck in a perfect foam imprint of my body. But like all innersprings, our mattress is starting to show slight indents/ dips where our bodies are laying most often. So I bought this assuming it would be a temporary fix, and I'm still not sure how long we will be happy with it, but even if it only helps for a few months at least it gives me time to research and try out our new bed.
Much to my surprise, this thing did the trick and feels exactly as the description says it would. I read that 3" toppers can lead to the stuck-in-your-body-imprint feeling so went with 2" and it's perfect. Doesn't sleep hot. It isn't too thick. It's not actually "cool" but I'm not sweating so that's a real plus from other foams I've tried.
It arrived vacuum packed and rolled very, very tight. It wasn't heavy at all but I recommend if you purchased the king, that you unravel the packaging close to your bed, or on your bed, as the topper becomes quite heavy and difficult to move around once it consumes air and begins to expland. It does need to air out for about a day as the smell is a little unpleasant. It does dissipate after about 12-24 hours.
The selling point for me was that it is Pur quality foam made in the US so it's not full of chemicals and hard metals like other brands. (Super important if you spend over 50 hours in bed each week like I do.) Sleeping on synthetic poison isn't a great idea considering how much of your life you spend sleeping. Overall this met my needs perfectly. It fixed the issue we were having with dips on each side of our bed and now it's like sleeping on a cloud. In fact, I was a faithful user of a pure goose down featherbed but decided that stripping the bed sheets every morning to fluff the featherbed was becoming a drag. So I slowly stopped doing it daily, and it really made a difference. Our bed wasn't nearly as comfortable without a freshly fluffed featherbed, and I needed to come to grips with the fact that I wasn't going to fluff daily. So instead I bought this gem - which is softer and doesn't require any maintenance at all, let alone daily fluffing.
I highly recommend this gel foam pad if you are too lazy to fluff a featherbed every day, and/or if you're looking to improve a top hard or too soft/saggy mattress, or you are just looking for added support and comfort atop your innerspring mattress. Not sure how it would work as a top to a foam mattress, but I imagine if a firm foam, it would feel great. Cannot say much bad about this product.
*UPDATE — 6 months later and this mattress topper is still performing the same as it was on week one. We notice NO difference whatsoever in its support, shape, or efficacy. As a result, I have added a star rating as this is clearly worthy of being a 5 Star product now.
