For a few months I probably was where you may be at now, listlessly scrolling through reviews for many couches and sofas chin in hand - just waiting for the moment where mom's voice in the back of my head would fade away "What do you mean "buy a couch online"? You won't even know what it really looks like and feels like until you get it. What if it's uncomfortable and you have to pay return fees?" I broke free of the naysayers and I narrowed down my choices to this sofa and the HERCULES Bretford Leather Sofa. - I wanted something contemporary - I wanted it to be firmer - I wanted it to be easy to clean - I wanted it to be affordable - I wanted to be able to lay down on it comfortably This sofa initially won me over because of the color, chaise, number of reviews, and price&dimensions. The sofa and chaise came (on time) in two separate boxes and they are quite large - but easily pushed across carpet. So with the help of a little old lady that had just come down to get her mail we pushed the boxes one at a time into the elevator and up to my apartment. The larger box we had to wiggle into the elevator very carefully but it made it and that was probably the hardest part of moving it. The (two sets of) instructions are stored inside of both boxes, inside of the velcro part or back piece of the furniture. So to avoid confusion or shortage of parts open both and grab all of the supplies. Putting it together is very simple once you get started. About this couch - I wouldn't have it free standing. I think, with it's construction and back, it needs to be resting against a wall the wood seems like it would splinter if it were leaned against, and leaned against, and bumped against over time. The pillows are not my cup of tea. Firm. Firm was a word that made me a little concerned when reading other reviews because it was coupled with the word uncomfortable. I was reading reviews after I purchased this sofa a brooding over the fact that I had just purchased a brick. Not so! It is firm but it's not hard. It's not a couch that you sink into which I like because it really feels durable. Buying this sofa online has been a very good experience. I love the way this sofa looks and the fabric and firmness are better than I could have ever expected. The dimensions - I can fit 7 people on it - amazing for the price. This sofa far exceeded my expectations and is everything I wanted + some. I love this sofa. '''''
