Works better than the packets from store-bought bouquets
Works better than the packets that come with store bought bouquets. I buy a dozen roses just about every week, usually bargain roses from Trader Joes, or other grocery stores when they are on special.
I found when I use this brand instead of the packet that comes with the roses, they tend to last longer.
I change the water/food every 2-3 days and trim the stems. The secret is to trim the stems initially about 1/2” (cut on the diaganol) and add them immediately into water/food mixture. Then about every 2-3 days, trim the stems again, about 1/2”, cutting the stems on the diagonal, and change the water/food. However, be sure to bleach out the vase for 20 min before adding the water/food and roses back into the vase.
The bleach prevents bacteria from forming which is why cut flowers do not last very long. Also make sure you only have stems beneath the water line, no leaves below the water line. Leaves in the water create bacteria, so keep the leaves above the water line.
After your flowers are spent, when you clean the vase, add bleach and let it soak for 20 minutes. Your vase will be ready for your next bouquet.
I learned this from a local florist.
