Great door for my cat - pay attention to installation
Our cat turned a small existing hole in our screen window overlooking our porch into a big hole in an attempt to get inside and away from a loud truck driving by. I was going to re-screen the window, but decided instead to get this pet door to install around the hole and make it his personal pet window. Installation was easy, though I put the door on backwards so the locks were on the outside. Once the door is attached it's locked in place and can't (or maybe can't easily) be removed again, so I put the screen back on the window backwards. This only works for us because we're on the second floor and it's an enclosed porch - because the screen locks are now on the outside, I wouldn't recommend this for a floor level fix. Just pay more attention than I did and make sure you have the door on correctly before hammering everything in place. I didn't have a mallet so I placed a folded towel over the frame and used a hammer gently. We haven't had any problems with him pushing at the locked door and loosening or removing it from the screen. It took a while for our cat to get the hang of the door, but he's weird and doesn't usually push doors with his face like normal pets - he'd rather stand up and use his paws. He faked us out for some time, acting like he didn't know how to use the door, but we were encouraging him with treats so he just wanted food. Chasing him around one day he jumped up to the window where the door is, and was halfway through before remembering he was trying to maintain the illusion that he didn't know how to use it yet. He stopped in his tracks half through the door, looked back at me, and backed back into the house, looking at me and feigning confusion. But I'd seen too much. Now he uses the door no problem.
