First of all I'd like to THANK everyone for posting their reviews about this system. It really is a great system, sans the lighting problem. I have another tank with under-tank lighting and it's so ineffective, it's a joke. This one makes up for that and so I love it. A VERY EASY fix to all of this lighting/splashing issue is to simply take a clear ziploc bag and *securely* tape it around the bulb piece. This allows no water to enter and rust the unit. I've had it for several weeks now and have not had a single problem with it. While it is a poor design, with one simple and inexpensive adjustment it's a magnificent tank.
