Great stuff, cut it with denatured alcohol.
Cut it with 50% denatured alcohol. Someone else on Amazon said they did it, so we tried it and it seems to be the preferred method. Smooths it out and seems to penetrate better. IF YOU GO THIS ROUTE, KEEP SPARKS/FIRE AWAY as your stuff will burst into fire. Didn't happen to us but I could just tell with the denatured alcohol and whatever the waterproofing stuff was mixed with, that gazebo top was a tinderbox ready to go until it dried. Used it with one of those $10 plastic insecticide pump sprayers on amazon, but got tired of that and used a pro handheld paint sprayer. Both worked great (paint sprayer was less work so we used that). So far it has held up over the past few months. If you can, try and clean whatever you spray it on. Then let it dry. The dryer the material, the better the waterproofing spray will penetrate and absorb. Used on cotton canvas gazebo top, various ponchos, a 5.11 MOAB 10 fishing bag, and 2 (nylon?) tarps (Kelty 12 and Yukon Outfitters) and once dried the coating is undetectable but water will bead right off... except for the 5.11 bag, perhaps Cordura just won't 100% bead waterproof? It did seem to repel though better then it did before. Still worthwhile. End result though is even 50/50 with denatured alcohol this stuff goes fast, but works great. It is great for reinforcing already waterproof material, but isn't going to make just any material waterproof. Way better then those $6 cans it you have a lot to do. I will be buying another gallon.
