I got this specifically to cool the house down for at least a few hours during the hottest part of the day after a hurricane. The humidity and heat without power after a hurricane can be severe. This unit (on gas or propane) will run a whole house A/C system along with your refrigerator and freezer and a few other things too. This will provide much needed relief during the clean-up efforts. I use a much smaller (Honda 1000) generator to keep a refrigerator and freezer going when this unit is not running. This unit was very easy to set up and operate. Excellent value. Update 11/17/20 : Had to use this unit several times already in the last year because of tropical storm power outages. Works like a champ; starts up immediately. I drain the gasoline between storms if I didn't use propane; also keep a battery maintainer hooked up to keep the battery at the ready. It does have a pull cord start should your battery die. I would never be without one of these
