GIRL. You NEED this in your life.
I have naturally almost black, thick, Asian hair that is highly processed and toned to high heaven just so I can be blonde. Not just sandy blonde. Platinum blonde. Now, any “bottle blonde” knows that purple shampoo is the sweet baby Jesus in a manger necessity that they MUST use if they don’t want to end up looking like a wannabe ginger with greasy orange-tinged hair. It’s just that blonde life. I have tried almost every purple shampoo under the sun, ranging in process from $7 to $70 a bottle. The top contenders so far have been Davines Alchemic Shampoo in Silver, L’Oréal Shimmering Lights Purple Shampoo, and now, THIS. Fanola takes the cake and is hands down the winner when it comes to toning even the most stubborn brass out. Seriously. Your granny needs this. You need this. GIRL. Go buy stock in this company. The pictures really do speak for themselves. My package arrived sealed tightly - no mess at all. I think they caught on that they needed to fix the shipping method and it seems to have worked. I opted for the smaller $10 bottle, which is a steal! You get SOOOO much product! The shampoo itself is the darkest (almost black) purple I’ve ever seen. The consistency is a little more runny than say, Herbal Essences Shampoo. The smell is a little weird. Part chemical/black licorice being masked by a pleasant salon fragrance. It’s certainly nothing unbearable and it goes away as soon as you wash with your own shampoo. I’ve smelled way worse purple shampoos. This is pretty good. Now, the instructions and most people will tell you to wash with it and leave it for 1-5 minutes. I don’t believe in following rules. Duh. I tried it in the shower on wet hair and left it on for about 10 minutes. Great results after just one use! And then, because I love a little lavender tint, I tried it on DRY hair, saturating it until almost black, and left it on for a whopping 30 minutes. Rinse until clear. And guess what? I LOVE IT. The lavender is not at all over powering but there’s isn’t a hint of yellow/brass in my hair. I swear it even lightened my roots too! The pros: 1) Will definitely 100% work for you. 2) Absolutely does what it says and does it well. 3) Worth every penny (you get a ton of product). 4) You can choose the strength/umph. The Cons: 1) It WILL stain your hands. No really. Wear some gloves. Your welcome. It won’t really stain your forehead, ears, or anything. The skin cells on the palms of your hands are similar to those in your hair and unlike the rest on your body. So, don’t worry about anything else other than your palms/nails. Glove it up! 2) It is rather drying, as most purple shampoos are. Get a good leave in conditioner and glop it on after you rinse in the shower. Put some coconut oil up in there. Moroccan Oil Hair Mask seems to work wonders for me. 3) You will become addicted to having white/super bright blonde hair. Photos in order: After, during, before, before, before, the very first time I used Fanola for just 10 minutes.
