Review from someone who actually paid for it
Apparently the only people who write reviews on Amazon now get the product for free and give it a 'fair' review -that just happens by coincidence- to always be a 5 star review. Every. Single. Time. I actually paid for the product. (/end rant) OK we've had various airbeds for over 10 years. I usually buy the cheapest one I can find and it lasts much longer than I have a right to expect (usually 2-3 years) but they eventually start to leak. This is the first 'hi-rise' bed we've bought and the first bed greater than probably $28. We just inflated it and the first impressions are pretty good. My wife likes it being higher. I really don't care either way. It does seem more robust than my $12 ones I usually get. One dislike for me is that the box is 3x the size of my little cheapo beds so make sure you have room to store it. I guess I should have thought of that before we ordered but I was focused more on the product than the storage. If storage is an issue this might not be your product. Also it's heavier (15lbs) than the little beds and bulky. So take that into consideration. The pump seemed a bit under powered but maybe I'm just impatient. (updated below) Having it built in is nice but this is not one of the auto pump kind that keep the bed inflated at a fixed level, you have to do that yourself. The smell was 'approaching bad' in my book but take that with a gain of salt as I get more sensitive to that as I age. (If this helps in any way) I'd guess my sensitivity to the new product stink is about a 4 (out of 10) and I'd rank the smell about 4 out of 10. So not a deal breaker but I don't want to lay on it for a few hours at least. I'll sleep on it for 2 days and update this review but so far first impressions good. I'm giving it 4 stars based on the fact I'm not sold the extra money, weight and bulk are worth it over cheapo mattresses. (I don't mind being 5 inches on the floor but YMMV) It will have to be clearly better than cheapos to get that 5th star. If this helped, feel free to click below to bump this over the spammers.... er paid reviewers I mean. UPDATE: I love the paid reviewers all voting this down to try and hide it. At any rate, I have to change one thing I said above, the pump is quick. Apparently whichever kid that was running it was doing something wrong. On a distressing note, it developed a leak in about 3 days. Now that could have been a kid or something so maybe not the product's fault, but still I've never lost a cheapo after 3 days. So the jury is out on that. We're looking for the leak and I'll update when I learn more. I'm not knocking it a star (still at 4) unless I have some reason to think it was the product's fault.
