A Healing Experience
Please see Frieda's review for a GREAT comprehensive review of this product. I wanted to share my own story. All good Tai Chi stories begin with P90X. While attempting P90X in late 2011, my right elbow started to have severe pain especially during chin ups. I also had other medical concerns around general fatigue. I had to stop P90X. I needed to recover instead. In July 2012, I ordered Tai Cheng. By going through the exercises, I discovered major muscle acid build up in my triceps and upper back muscles (teres major and minor). I also had high stress in the sides of my thighs that I never realized was there. It put unnecessary tension on my knees and hips. Tai Cheng breaks down and releases a LOT of acid from the muscles! I had to stop at 4 weeks and REALLY focus on drinking more water and getting my diet correct. After a month, I restarted. As of today, I have completed 2 rounds of Tai Cheng! (1 round = 90 days) All the stress is gone in my triceps and teres muscles. I believe that's what was causing me to be unable to do chin ups and causing elbow pain. My legs also have no more tension. I feel taller! When I do yoga, I can get into positions I previously couldn't, especially where crossing my legs was concerned! I'm currently 32 but started when I was 31. In the back of my mind, I was concerned about getting stiff when I got older. Tai Cheng has alleviated that fear! It's a secret weapon against the immobility of aging. RECOMMENDATIONS: If you attempt Tai Cheng, follow the diet and drink plenty of water. This workout releases MASSIVE amounts of acid from your muscles! The healthy diet keeps your body alkaline which neutralizes acid. The water flushes the material away. Buy both the Foam Roller AND the Rumble Roller. The gentle Foam roller will help ease you through the painful spots. The intense Rumble Roller will help you with deep or specific spots. You feel very accomplished when a spot that was super painful even with the Foam roller is something you can attack with the Rumble Roller! :) Because it helps you eliminate lactic acid build up in the muscles, Tai Cheng is great for: - The elderly who can get onto and off the floor - Someone who has always had that tight problem area - Athletes who may not realize how much acid their muscles are storing. - Someone who wants to properly prepare themselves before attempting a more intense workout routine - Someone who has trouble getting on the diet of a more intense program like P90X because changing your diet AND exercise at the same time is just too much. (Like me!) - Someone who's done some intense workout routines and needs downtime. If you've done 1-2 years of intense training, you NEED to recover with 90 days of Tai Cheng. - If you're a klutz and want better balance and bodily control! It could be acid build up that's throwing you off! CONS: - Tai Cheng does NOT focus on getting you to feel your Chi. In other Tai Chi classes, the entire purposes is to feel your chi moving through your feet, body and hands. This seems Americanized so that those subtle things are left out. It's definitely West, not East. - Beachbody over-sells their supplements throughout the videos. It feels intrusive. In the P90X videos, it felt more instructive. - The menu navigation could have been better. It offered too many screens before you get started. I do NOT consider any of these cons to be major flaws. I just want to be honest about it's mild imperfections. The program isn't perfect so I give in a 4 out 5. * Quick Note: I also have reviewed "Tai Cheng DVD Workout - Master Kit" *
