Not the magic solution you're hoping for, but works well in many cases
If you've gotten to the point of reading product reviews on fabric markers, you've already figured out that none of them work well in all circumstances. This is no exception. However, it is still probably one of the better choices you can make as they do work well in a lot of circumstances. For example, they work great on denim and other heavy cottons. They don't work on satin, silk, or lace. The color lifts easily on some materials with just the application of heat, other materials will require hand-washing to get all the color out. Always test on a bit of scrap if you must mark on white fabrics. All in all, they are worth getting as they do perform well in a good number of common cases. Just don't think they solve everything. I recommend complementing these pens with a good chalk solution, either the chaco pens or those chalk triangles. Note that I do NOT recommend the chalk pens that use solid refills (like a mechanical pencil), only use the ones that use powder refills. This is because the solid version requires too much force to make a mark and the point is so small and sharp that it will rip many thinner fabrics. The final thing I want to point out about these markers is that you should be aware that they are designed to dry out in approximately 4 months. So if you are only an occassional hobbyist sewer, this is something you might want to keep in mind. They do give you a set of refills and the price is reasonable for additional refills. However, that still doesn't help when you get started on a project after letting things sit for a couple months and can't mark your pattern because your pens are dry. So just FYI.
