Best in Class in this Price Range
For those who want real espresso for under $200, you have probably already realized... it doesn't exist. However, this little Gevi does a nice job considering its price / functionality ceiling. If you're willing to settle (you have to with an espresso machine under a grand), I do recommend this machine. It absolutely does NOT push 20 bars of pressure through your grounds though. And that's a good thing from an extraction perspective.
Also, bonus - it looks nice in your white-color-themed kitchen. Let's face it, most machines in this price range are both functionally deficient AND ugly (espresso comes out cold, severe channeling, lacks enough pressure to create crema, can't froth, plasticky, all black exterior, etc.). The Gevi 20 bar produces moderately tasty espresso that comes out hot, while looking cute on your counter. And yes the frother wand actually works... to a point. You won't get true "melted ice cream" consistency (necessary for espresso art), but you'll get decent creamy foam that looks good on a cappuccino, and has a nice mouth feel.
