Read this before you buy. I've had this for about a month now and I bought it as an easier and faster way for clean up in the kitchen after my messy kids eating. I normally need to use a broom about 4 times a week and that got old real fast. This is a great replacement, it's fast, easy and does a surprisingly great job. People are knocking it for poor battery performance and lack of suction, however, keep in mind, this does not replace a full size vacuum. As for battery performance - I've used it 3-4 times before I decided to charge it; not because it died or loses power, but just personal preference, and that is not an inconvenience at all. As for suction power, it has swept up crumbs/debris the size of a nickel without a problem, while at the same time can also suck up VERY small crumbs. It is a great electric broom to have in between a deep cleaning. People also complain about the corner brushes not on the newer model, however, this has not prohibited me from sucking things up that were nearly touching the baseboards - anything tighter, you would need an actual broom/pan. We have a high top (pub style) kitchen table with bar stools, so the fact that the shaft bends in half to get under something without hurting yourself bending over has honestly been the nicest feature. There is a button by the handle that allows this to do so, and is a great feature. Also, I realized after purchasing, that the width of this (13") was just enough clearance for the width of my bar stool legs so I don't have to pull the chairs out to get under the table - the broom fits between the legs (something you may keep in mind before purchasing). The pivoting points on this broom are excellent, which (with the help of the shaft bending when needed) you can get into any little angle easily. There are also (2) modes on this broom, one for hard floor and one for carpet. I have only used it on my carpet (moderately shaggy) a couple times to try it out and pick up a couple things up and it worked for what I needed at the time (it wouldn't replace a vacuum). I do use it often though for our carpet door mats around the main floor. In all, keep in mind what people are rating this low for and what they're using it for - for me, it was to clean up the food left over (mostly) in the kitchen and has been a great addition. I absolutely love this item and would buy again if it broke (can't beat the price). Why not 5 stars? Cause nothing is 100% perfect and people are too quick to give something 5 stars on here (as I've found out the hard way sometimes).
