5-in-one Boombox, solid built and very loud audio output!
I purchased this stereo in Malaysia just around $110 last 2 weeks. It is not a 'hunting' appliances over here just because of the smart phones has taken the audio entertainment functionality.. perhaps. Pros: - A solid built 5-in-one stereo - CDA/ CD-mp3 player, cassette deck, FM/AM digital tuner radio, USB massive Mp3 files player and external audio-in port to be connected to phones or other music input. - Two-way stereo speakers. It has separate tweeter each, so will comes out rich clarity of audio. - Full-size remote commander, high quality built like it was from 90's Japan brand. - A good sensitivity radio tuner circuit compare to my old Philips micro component. Easy to program the stations, just 3 steps. - CD tray is a drawer type mechanism, means it convenient and didn't required user to push/ pull the CD on the rotary knob likes the top-loading CD player. - All basic functions are there on the panel to the user operates with no remote control. The tactile buttons have very good touch-feeling, really remind me the quality of 80-90s stereo before now cheap low Chinese product swept them out from the market. - Cassette tape player done it's function as it is. The pre-amp has a better clarity audio which I didn't expected from this boombox. - Audio 'virtuallizer' - The artificial surround audio mode for all media types. - 4-types of preset equalizer; Heavy, Vocal, Soft, Clear and Eq-off. In addition it has manual BASS-TREBLE user setting which I think more preferable for rich bass and clarity. - LR4 Batteries for off-mains operation. - This stereo player has pretty loud audio power. I don't believed that the rated RMS power from it has very loud and smooth audio than I had expected. Cons: -A little bit heavier, as to compare to it's nearest rivel SONY boombox ZS-RS60BT. - The radio tuner has no RDS. - The bass sound is not so obvious even at very high setting. It has very huge amplifier wattage but the audio quality just the average. - Sound Virtuallizer function not pretty good type of DSP for low quality mp3 audio, some of mp3 tracks will suffered with 'swirling' noises. - The preset radio station memory and manual user eq were kept as volatile memories. Which means all those setting disappeared if the AC supply unplugged, But it has a memory preservation battery to avoid this issue. Overall, it is a great boombox! * update on Sept, 30 Ok, just to cover out the previous one review, after an attempt to increase the volume levels up to 30 & ++, I found now the bass performance is there! Then for a song track which naturally has few up dB+ of 100-160Hz Eq bands, this machine will show up it's solid bass. The best media to obtain rich bass-treble audio is by playing via the CD player, definitely because of the uncompressed format keeps it such good.(set to manual EQ)
