this stuff is a miracle - but you have to know that you need it!
When my ophthalmologist explained what was wrong with my eyes and told my about Systane, it was an amazing day.
First off, I thought I just had either super sensitive eyeballs or kamikaze eyelashes, because I walk around with a constant feeling like there is something in my eye. No - apparently I have sticky eyeballs. The way he explained it:
There are two types of tears: the salty kind when we cry (we replace those with Visine), and the oily kind that keeps our eyeballs moist and stops our eyelids from sealing themselves shut. These are produced by some gland that can get disrupted by a bunch of little things, for me lupus.
So the reason why Systane feels so thick and weird as compared to Visine (this totally weirded me out at first) is because it is kind of like Astroglide for your eyes. But it makes life SO MUCH BETTER. I can wear mascara again! I can read for longer periods of time! I don't have to stop everything when I do get something in my eye because of the excruciating pain!
