BUY A LIGHTNING PROTECTOR
The fence works great and we've been pleased. But it is RIDICULOUS that there is no clear and obvious instruction to BUY the lightning protector. This goes for any underground fence of course. A couple months after it was installed, zap. Dead as a doornail. I had it plugged into a gfi, with a protective power strip, but of course the zap comes in through the buried underground wire. WHY it is not built with some sort of fuse that can be replaced after this is beyond me. It's a real disservice to the customer. We purchased the base unit all over again and this time got the little $25 dollar lightning protector...that should, in my opinion, be a part of the unit to begin with.
