Triplus vs Stabilo vs Bus - TRIPLUS WINS
Finally, something new for the age old "Triplus Fineliner vs Stabilo 88" debate.
I have used the Triplus markers for many years, and within the last one added the Stabilos into the mix for some further variation of color (other comparisons as of yet withstanding). I have been carrying some of both on me consistently, and last week this enabled me to make a very unique comparison.
While on my regular bike commute, I got into a scuffle and dropped my pencil bag into the street. Before I could loop around and get it, it was run over by a bus. Not a little short bus, but a huge double length Seattle metro bus. Thinking it was all lost, I stuffed it in my bag and rode home to investigate the contents after.
I was carrying 6 Stabilos and 2 Triplus markers. After sorting through my pens, I discovered that I had 3 thoroughly smashed Stabilos, 3 questionable ones, and 2 pristine Triplus. Seriously, you would NEVER KNOW that these things were run over by a bus. The Stabilos look scuffed and questionable, the Triplus fineliners look the same as they did the day that I bought them. I have some slight suspicions that the shape of the marker gives it some kind of increased structural integrity, but I won't theorize those things here. Just the facts - half of the Stabilos died horrible deaths, the others are permanently disfigured, and the Triplus markers are like the survivors of a grisly plane crash that managed not to even have a scratch on them.
In short: If you're looking to get run over by a bus, the Triplus is your marker. It won't save you, but it will probably outlive you.
