I was driving to work this morning, well before dawn, when I heard a thud, followed by some clattering. I thought that this was strange, seeing as how the road was perfectly clear. I started thinking about the contents of the trunk and wondering whether something might have shifted. You know that sinking feeling you get when you realize that something bad happened? After about half a minute, I realized what must have happened. It turns out that I was distracted before leaving home and had left my new Surface Pro 2, inside of the Snugg cover, on top of my car. In the time I was distracted, the garage light turned off, so I didn't see it in the dark when I finally got in the car. About a mile from home, the inevitable happened and the sound I heard was the computer departing the roof of the car. I pulled off the road as soon as I realized what had happened. Sure enough, it had fallen off the car and was nowhere to be seen in the dark. I turned around and slowly started driving back towards home with the high beams on. Fortunately, I was able to see the computer on the road as I neared the place where it happened. The Snugg case was visibly damaged...badly. The side of the cover with the opening had landed face down and clearly slid down the road for some distance. I returned to my car and drove to a nearby parking lot, where I carefully removed the Surface from the case. It looked ok. I turned it on, and the screen came to life with no sign of damage. I've been using the machine for the last few hours and everything seems to be working fine, including the Type Cover 2, the touch screen, etc. The Surface came through the ordeal without a scratch. I've just ordered a replacement Snugg case to replace the one that gave its life for my Surface. To say that I am pleased would be an understatement. I was happy with the case before this morning, but now I am overjoyed with it.
