FINALLY! A Self-opening can opener that WORKS!
=== Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with the manufacturer and always write from my true experience. But please note that I received this item for free in exchange for my honest review. === Review begins: I have gone through several of these that claimed to be the be-all to end-all of self-opening can openers, and they were NOT. So I have to admit that I went in with a skeptical mindset when I got this to review. I was wrong. This product, made by Zyliss actually lives up to it's name. We made pozole tonight for dinner, and for 12 hearty eaters, this meant 2 #10 cans of hominy. So I took out the EasiCan, put in the batteries, and watched it do it's magic. And in under 90 seconds both cans were opened, and because of how it opens the cans, no sharp edges. You simply place the unit on the can with the cutting wheel on the OUTSIDE of the can rim, press the button, and watch it walk around the can. When you hear the can pop, it is finished. Just press the button again and wait 3 seconds for it to stop. That IS the only drawback, that it does not have a sensor so that when the can is open it auto-stops. But it makes a nice safe edge, and the built-in magnet lifts the lid right off the can. It works with any size can (we cheated and had canned refried beans tonight as a side, in a standard 30 ounce can) and leaves the edge smooth. It's safe enough for kids to use, under adult guidance, and it's a breeze to clean up. Just pop out the batteries, remove the front edge and clean any gunk from the label off the cutting wheel. Snap it back together, and you are ready for the next time. I have spent well over $100 on these type of openers and have ended up returning them or throwing them out. This one, and it's sisters that I am ordering for all 4 units of the four-plex, have a home with us. Uses 2 AA batteries, not included, but just search here on Amazon and you can find them in bulk, which is how we buy batteries anyhow. It's not the cheapest of the automatic openers, but it works.... and that makes it worth the few extra dollars. End of Review === Thank you for taking a minute out of your busy life to read my review.
