We love the look of this litter box. We live in an apartment and don't have an out of the way space for a litter box. We have two cats, and they both took to this litter box right away. We have a litter mat outside of the opening because they do track quite a bit of litter outside the opening. We use the Natural Pine litter. Our cats would not leave the grass alone. We had to throw away the grass. Then for a short period of time, they wanted to jump on top of the box and play with the artificial plant. We used some spray to discourage chewing on the plant, and they stopped jumping on the top after a week. We replaced the grass with river rocks. This keeps the cats from tearing up the charcoal filters while still allowing air to flow through the filter grates. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because I think it should have come with something other than grass to cover the filter. We use the Petmate Cleanstep charcoal filters. They are circular. This litter box really needs a donut shaped filter, but we cut these circles into four wedges, and they fit perfectly. The filter grates are shaped like four wedges, and these are the perfect size. I've read some reviews in which people complained that the top was difficult to match up to the bottom. We totally disagree. It just takes a sec. We don't use a litter box liner, but the box hardly gets dirty. After emptying the box, I rarely see any residue. I go ahead and just wipe the inside with prepackaged wipes.
