Good coffee selection at a Great price
I tried these cups for the same reasons everyone else is using them. Cost. I want a more cost-effective alternative to the k-cups I'm buying in the store. I've used Keurig for years, and I've purchased k-cups from their site, food stores, amazon, walmart, you name it, all in efforts to reduce my cost-per-cup. If you're willing to buy Green Mountain coffee in bulk of 72, then you can come close to $.50 per cup. If you're like me, I enjoy different flavors of coffee and don't want to buy 300-400 k-cups up front and then find a place to store them. With all of that aside, here is my review so far. Packaging: Coffee shipped loose in a cardboard box. Not a big deal for me. I didn't get an even number of flavors in my variety pack. It wasn't a one-sided distribution, so for me it wasn't an issue either. The packaging of the k-cup itself is the best I've seen so far. Normally K-cup filters are glued and you know this if you've tried to take them apart for projects or to recycle them. These however are not glued and easily pop out of the k-cup. I like to use the old cups for seed starting, and I'm always looking to recycle my k-cups somehow. Coffee: The coffee is good. I tried the Colombian first because that is a taste I know, and should be similar if your coffee is branded "Colombian". I set my K200 for 8oz, and wasn't disappointed. It tasted like Colombian coffee, and wasn't watered down that I could tell. I have many more flavors to try, so take this review as INTRODUCTORY. I decided to see if the claim of 20% more coffee could be tested since I wanted to see what was inside the k-cup anyways. See the photos I took. I tried to make the grounds the same height so the size of the grounds mound could be somewhat accurate. Without all the measuring fuss, I saw that there were more grounds in the Bradford k-cups than Green Mountain Nantucket. I'm not an expert on coffee, beer is my preference, but more grounds should mean a stronger cup per brew. Pros: $0.38 per k-cup is the best price I could find with quality coffee. I took a chance on a brand I've never tried before and it was good. The reusable/ recyclable factor is a huge bonus for me. Cons: I didn't get an even number of cups.
