It works if you read the instructions!
We've been using skoon for almost a year now. We have the subscription through skoon but i do buy extra bags through amazon occasionally. They are $3 cheaper through skoon but easier through amazon. As for the litter itself: It is amazing. We live in a very small house and normally it didn't matter what we did with the litter (cleaned it 3x a day, etc) I could always smell the litter. Also, again because small house and long haired cat, litter would be everywhere in the house. It was so disgusting! The move to skoon was a trial. I was skeptical since i'd tried many things in the past and they never lived up to the hype. And it DID take a bit of brain re-wiring for the skoon litter. I was used to clumping litter so the idea of not scooping out the urine was difficult to grasp. But it really does work exactly how they say! Things to note: 1: YOU HAVE TO STIR THE LITTER DAILY!! Ideally twice a day, but at least once a day. The entire process works because the "stones" soak up the urine. If you don't stir them, the stones on bottom get saturated and can no longer soak up urine. I promise this isn't gross. It's nothing like clay litter. 2: It is best to completely change out the litter when it's run its course. It takes a few bags before you really get an idea of how long one will last (ours lasts just shy of a month). It depends how much and how often your cat(s) pee. More pee = less time. After between 2 weeks to a month you'll begin to see most of the stones have turned a darker color. That means it's time to change the litter. 3: Because the stones are much larger than regular litter, they don't track or scatter nearly as much as regular litter. We found that using a top enter litter box reduced this even more. And the litter that does escape (long hair cat problems) usually just stays right around the box. Also the stones are way less "dirty" than grains of litter. 4: One thing that isn't quite up to their claims is the lack of dust. It varies from bag to bag but there CAN be some dust when you first pour the bag in or when you stir it. It definitely isn't a deal breaker (everything except newspaper litter produces dust) but just not as "dustless" as they claim.
