These little pucks are very convenient. If they get too warm, they do get a little oily but other than that these appear to help to keep critters out of a small area. I put them under and around my firewood and in areas of my back porch where opossums try to hide behind storage tables. Opossums are cute but very dirty. The little guy hasn’t been back since I stuck these in the corners. The scent is pleasant and isn’t overbearing, but I would not keep it in a vehicle due to the potential for the oils to melt and vaporize onto the car surfaces. I did not buy these for a vehicle, so I am very pleased with them, and they seem like they will last at least a month or two. This saves me from constantly spraying peppermint into the back corners. I still spray peppermint along the outside wall closest to my door because mice have nothing but time to find ways into your home. They check to see if the scents are worn off every night. I bought another brand that smelled only of extreme garlic and I had to move them off my porch as they were running me out! So these are much more pleasant! And only about an inch high so they fit in tight spaces and aren’t overly noticeable.
