It WORKS but could use some improvements
I was skeptical about whether or not this would actually work because why would anyone pay thousands for laser hair removal when something like this exists?? At a FRACTION of the price!!?! I decided to give it a shot, if it didn't work, I would be out a little money but if it did, I could save literally thousands. And let me tell you this-- it DOES WORK! BUT, yes, there are some "buts". It is a slow process (just like laser hair removal). And it seems to depend heavily on technique, meaning that, if it doesn't work for you, you are probably the problem. Either your skin/hair is the wrong color, or you're not using the IPL correctly. I am very pale and have had success on my dark, thicker body hair. I have *not* been consistent with the usage schedule, but I am still seeing results in some areas (and fewer results in others, I will explain). For all body areas I have tried, I did a few test pulses starting at 3 and moved up to 5. I have consistently used 5 unless it was too painful. I have noticed as time has progressed that the 5 has become too intense in some areas, so I went down, but I have best results in the areas where I have stayed at 5 the entire time. Lower legs: stayed at 5 entire time, tried to follow schedule as instructed but have not been consistent but have seen significant results! The hairs grow much slower and in sparse/small patches. I believe my results would have been better at this point if I had a good technique for my legs, but I don't. Every other area I have tried has also had a slower growth and fewer hairs but results have not been as good as my lower legs. All these other areas, though, have been less consistent. Either I have had to go down on the strength of the pulse or I have not done them as often as my lower legs. But I HAVE seen good/promising results! I had a few errant dark hairs around my nipples. They're pretty much gone at this point! "Happy trail"/belly button, tops of big toes, armpits, and bikini area. An errant neck hair, errant dark hair on my inner wrist, " girlstache", and in between my eyebrows. I've tried all these areas and have also gotten good results, just less than my legs. But, again, that is on me because I have not been as consistent with the timing and strength of the pulses. I am confident that I will be completely satisfied with things with continued use. Now, some cons for this particular machine: The cord gets in the way and is very annoying when working on the legs! It only covers a small area and the plastic around that area is larger, so it's difficult to judge accuracy to make sure you're actually hitting everything and not missing places. It does hurt a little, which isn't unique to this particular unit, but just a warning. Some areas hurt more than others and I noticed that some areas got more sensitive as time passed. I only ever do 3 pulses per spot at a time, but sometimes I will only do 2 or go down to a lower strength. Auto-cutoff is annoying. After a certain time, it cuts off and you have to turn it back on. Getting the automatic flash setting on is not clearly explained in the instructions. All you do is hold the trigger button down until the next flash or two and then you can release. Then, it will automatically flash every few seconds so long as it is pressed to your skin (or close to it). Overally, this is a great product and I am happy with my purchase! Knowing that it works, I do wish I would've spent a little more on a model that is wireless and/or has a bigger window/covers a bigger area. But this was a great purchase and a super affordable option. You just have to trade time and be patient!
