Upgraded from the RoboVac 11... for better and worse
I got this guy on sale a while back, and put my RoboVac 11 out to pasture at a friends house, where he still cleans to this day. I would say this unit is an overall improvement in most areas, save for a few. The Pros over the last model: - Definitely has more suction than the last model. Beyond that, you can set this Eufy to it's maximum setting, and it will remember it every time it turns on. The old 11 would revery back to standard suction everytime - Has a much better sensor. It must be optical, because this Eufy is more apt to turn before hitting an obstacle or wall. This is good, except when you really want Eufy to hug the wall. Then you need to set it for edge cleaning. - It is lower in height, which prevents it from getting stuck under some tables the 11 did. - It is generally quieter, though the max suction setting will negate some of that. - It is much better at finding it's way home. The old Eufy required a game every afternoon called "Where's Eufy" where you got to search your house for your wayward robot. This one, unless it gets stuck, can find it's way back most of the time. - It picks up even more crap. I was amazed at how much "stuff" the old vac picked up... this one gets even more. - Various improvements... most everything has gotten a bit of an upgrade, from the way the dustbin inserts, to the front brushes and the way they attach/detach, to easier removal of the main brush for cleaning. The Cons: - For whatever reason, this Eufy does not run as long. Whereas the 11 would run for over an hour and a half, this model, when set to max suction, runs for 45 minutes, almost on the nose. The vac starts out at my place at 1PM, and almost like clockwork is limping home at 1:45. - This model is also a bit more "aggressive" sometimes with lower objects, and will continually try to run over things slightly below its optical sensors. I often have to chastise Eufy for humping bathroom scales and fan bases. The Same: And some things haven't changed much. There's no virutal walls, no multiple schedules or day-specific scheduling; Eufy runs the same time, every day. There's no phone app or smart speaker integration. I suppose if you want that, there's pricier models out there. IN all it's a definite step up in most areas other than runtime. Considering I have a small place and it runs every day, that's not an issue for me, but others may feel differently. UPDATE after a few months on the job: This model has a more easily detachable set of front brushes. So much so that it was losing them periodically on its cleaning missions. Eventually, it lost them both and I couldn’t find them. I bought a set of ten more brushes and a half dozen filters from here, and those seem to be staying on fine. Otherwise, it’s still cleaning like a champ... I’m emptying its bin full of dust and detritus every few days.
