I've heard a lot of negative remarks that witch hazel is very drying on the skin. If you Google witch hazel what seems to show up first or the negative remarks. I've been using witch hazel since I was a teenager and it never been to drying on my skin. However I may be using it differently than others. I get my washcloths soaking wet with hot water and I put a little bit of it on the cloth and use it over my skin. I believe that that is diluting it to some extent and perhaps that's why it's not too drying. My skin always feels very tingly and clean and fresh after use. I use it in the morning when I get up and I only use it once a day. I do not use witch-hazel to remove makeup. I only use it in the morning to clean my skin before applying makeup. I don't think witch-hazel is the right item to use to remove makeup. most makeup is formulated to be cleaned with either soap or oil. I remove my makeup with bar soap. I removed my mascara with almond oil because my mascara is waterproof. I do not use witch-hazel to treat acne. I'm only using it as a cleansing toner in the morning. I believe that having the appropriate expectations of what this can do for you will make you a lot happier with it. This is the only brand of witch-hazel that I purchased because I believe that it has the highest quality available for the price. I've been using this brand for a very long time and I am brand loyal.
