I received a Shark ION Robot 720 Vacuum in exchange for an honest review. We have used a Roomba for years and thought it was adequate for the job. However I jumped at the opportunity to see what's new in the robotic vacuum space. The Shark ION is an order of magnitude better than the Roomba. First of all the dust bin is nearly twice the size of the Roomba so it doesn't have to be emptied as often. I LOVE that there is an alarm built-in to the Shark ION that alerts you when the bin needs to be emptied. Another fantastic feature is that the Shark ION is programmable. I have mine set to clean Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am. It works perfectly and when it is finished, it returns to its charging station. The Roomba is supposed to return to its charger as well but it NEVER worked. The Shark ION has a remote control that you use to program the vacuum and it is straight forward to use and comes with batteries. The Shark ION also comes with Barrier Strips: small rubber bumpers that impede the Shark ION from crossing. We use the barrier strips to block places where the Roomba always got stuck, under the china cabinet for example. The Shark ION Robot is incredibly quiet. The Roomba is so loud it can only be run during the day but the Shark ION could be programmed to run at night if you desire and it would not be heard throughout the house. The Shark ION comes with an extra set of side brushes that snap into place. It also comes with an extra HEPA filter and a cleaning brush. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats so we have lots of pet hair and the Shark ION does a fantastic job keeping floors tidy without any effort other than emptying the bin if it gets full. I highly recommend the Shark ION ROBOT 720. It really sets the bar for performance and value in robotic vacuums.
