Some tips I hope will help!
I bought this to make wine bottle lights. I have cut flat glass before, but never wine bottles, so I followed the instructions to the letter. Hours later, I had one unevenly broken wine bottle and 5 others cut and unseparated...I was ready to drink a bottle of wine myself! Here's how I altered the instructions and it happened to work for me.
First, I laid the device on it's side, which helped me to get a smoother, much more even score.
Next, I figured out that using the tapper gave me uneven separation...just put it back in the box.
The directions state that you should alternately dunk the bottle in simmering and ice water - 5 seconds in each. That didn't work at all for me. I let the wine bottle sit in the boiling water for more like 30 seconds, and then ice water for 30 seconds. In most cases, it only took one or two dunks for the bottles to separate. Much more successful....and WAY less frustrating!
Enjoy your projects!
