I am crazy about fiber. My boyfriend and roommate both have made fun of me about this A LOT. I am addicted to fiber, and I am definite a self-proclaimed fiber aficionado. Optifiber is hands down my favorite fiber. I have used Metamucil, Benefiber, Equate brand fiber, and Kroger brand fiber (both the dissolving kind and the one that is more similar to Metamucil). I think that you can't go wrong with Benefiber, Equate, or Kroger brands, but that Optifiber is the BEST out of them because it has less taste and has the best price. I have been using Optifiber for a while. I "started" my fiber journey 2 years ago with Benefiber, then started using Equate and Kroger brands, and now use Optifiber. I probably would have started with Optifiber, but did not live near a Costco when I started taking fiber. Fiber changed my life; Optifiber is the best fiber in my opinion on the market, and it is the fiber that I recommend to anyone who wants to know (or doesn't want to know). This stuff is a white powder that you put in your drinks (and sometimes food), and it dissolves completely. It is not like Metamucil, where you still have a grainy texture and a plant-like or orange flavor. There is absolutely no taste or texture. I am uploading a photo of the before and after with a cold water bottle (time between photos is about 2 minutes). As you can see, the water bottle is basically a normal water bottle. I could give this to my little brother, who has a very picky palette, and he would literally never know the difference. The results are wonderful. I used to have very irregular bowel movements (like every 3 days) and they were pretty hard and painful (sorry, gross). Now I have a nice, normal bowel movement every day (maybe twice if I eat a lot!). I have not changed my diet whatsoever, besides adding fiber. Not only does it change my BMs, but it honestly makes me happier. I am cranky and don't feel well when I don't use fiber. When I use this stuff, I feel great and have a better outlook on life. I am LITERALLY addicted to this stuff. Like I said, any fiber is good and will work well for these purposes, but Optifiber is just my favorite. I sometimes double or triple the serving per glass, and with the other brands, you can start tasting the fiber, but when I triple the servings with Optifiber, there is no discernible taste difference. It's awesome. Optifiber DOES dissolve in cold liquids, but it is important to not just "dump" it in all at once. I take the little scoop (or a spoon if I lose my scoop), and shake it in. Then I stir or shake my liquid until it dissolves. This takes maybe 20 seconds if I use the recommended amount. I also frequently use way more than the recommended amount (3 scoops per one drink), and in that case, you add the Optifiber, stir or shake for a few seconds, let it sit for 1-2 minutes, then stir again - it ALWAYS dissolves. I am a fiber FANATIC, and I promise you, this stuff dissolves (better than Equate brand for sure, and similar to Benefiber or Kroger brands). Getting the fiber into the opening of a bottle (even a wide opening like a Gatorade) can be very tricky with just a spoon or the scoop. I have found that using a funnel solves this problem completely. I had a small plastic funnel, which works fine, but the best option is to roll a piece of paper into a funnel. It works way better and is free! And prevents any fiber from spilling onto the sides of the bottle, eliminating fiber loss and sticky hands - because this stuff does become sticky if you get it on your hands. My pics show my makeshift funnel :) I would say that if you want MAXIMUM benefits, take this stuff every day and throw in a psyllium husk fiber 1-2 times a week as well. Psyllium husk fibers (like Metamucil) don't taste or feel great, but if you combine them with Optifiber (or another Benefiber-like fiber), your bowel movements and digestive health will be at their absolute peak.
