Stop looking. This is the winner bag of all bags.
These are amazing.
We got them for our 5-week train-riding-across-Europe honeymoon. We had moments where we had to walk on cobblestone streets for miles and squishing onto rush-hour trains. I am an over-packer and like to stuff my suitcases. These (we got 2) were perfect. We mainly used the rolling-wheels but had a few times where it was better to put them on our backs. When mine was stuffed to the gills so I was a little awkward looking. I figured I was like a ninja turtle though so I didn't mind too much. ;)
They are sturdy and have tough bottoms including a flap that cushions the plastic part if you have to wear it. The fabric is thick and nothing got wet when we had a little rain come down. (But we didn't stand in a storm or anything). The handle never got stuck or came out or bent. I fit SO much in there! One of the best parts is you can take these on the plane without having to check in bags.
The day packs were great to have on day trips (what a concept) and the extra pockets all over both bags were convenient. Water bottles fit perfectly in the netting sides of the day pack. As I accumulate a few things here and there (including books) I somehow always found room. Unpacking I felt like Mary Poppins.
I looked all over at all kinds of bags. I was concerned that we might have gone too cheap for such an intense journey. I knew I would HATE to be in a bind in a different country and have my bag crap out on me. I was concerned that I wouldn't have room for 5 weeks of clothing (check out the Youtube travel suggestions, you really don't need a lot) or have room for souvenirs and gifts. But when we got them I was comforted, confident and really excited. They really work wonderfully. I never knew I could get so excited...over...luggage. I must be getting old.
