Real Mahjong!
First of all, this is true Mahjong, not Mahjong Solitaire, with the big pile of tiles. This is the traditional game, similar to rummy. This version doesn't include general Mahjong instructions, so you'll need prior knowledge or a good source for info. It is Japanese Mahjong, so it plays a just bit differently than US or Chinese, but in "normal" mode, it isn't hard to figure out what's going on. For example, if you win on another player's discard, it is a "Ron", but if you win on a draw, you'll go "Mahjong." "Kong", "Pung", and "Chow" are used in text, but the audio announces them in Japanese terms. There are a lot of cool features. You can choose your opponents and turn special hands and options on and off. You can also choose the colours of the playing table and tiles (just two choices for each, though). If you want numbers on the tiles, make sure you are using the green tiles. The graphics are simple, without a lot of fancy distractions - you mostly be just looking a a Mahjong table, but the quality is fine. Everything functions fine, with intuitive controls, except for one glitch. If you exit in the middle of a game, your progress will saved, however, the screen often locks, when one returns to the game. If/when that happens, you'll need to go home or to one of the menus and select the game. You will then be returned to your game. It's a little irritating, but not worth removing a star. Overall, this game is lots of fun and worth the $4.00 price tag.
