Well I applied for this card after seeing the $100 Amazon gift card offer. I was approved after an online application with questions about my occupation and income. I was given and generous limit and my card arrived in the mail 2 days later (I got an additional card for my wife, no extra charge). One thing that surprised me was the extra card with my wife name showed up on her Credit Report, which I did not expect since the account was in my name and I had filled out the application. I hope that since it shows on her report she will build positive credit based on my on time payments, but I have no evidence to support that yet. Now the thing everyone is waiting for. The $100 Amazon gift card. As soon as I received my Discover it cards I went online and set up a profile with my credit card. (I did activate on the phone, and you will talk to a person who asks you questions for identity security). I made my first purchase the next day at a Walmart, and a gas station. Once those purchases posted to my account (3 days later) I received an email from Discover with this Message: "Thank you for becoming a Discover it® Cardmember! Your $100 Amazon.com Gift Card* claim code will be e-mailed to you after you make your first purchase, within 3 months of approval. ** Expect your gift card claim code to arrive within 8 weeks of your first purchase." Ok so the message said within 8 weeks I would be emailed it, well they emailed it to me one week later, no problem with redeeming it and I am very happy. Top Tip, when you make an account online with Discover, add the email addresses they recommend you add to you address book so they do not get spam filtered. Besides that Amazon gift card, I like that there are no overseas transaction fees with this card, and you can get cash back on it (are fee's on cash back). 1% cash back on everything each quarter and other bonus cash back deals (you have to sign up on the website) each quarter. Added a photo of the email with my info blacked out for proof of gift card receipt.
