This walker is the best thing I've ever done to get back my life! I have a condition that I have been dealing with for years that makes walking extremely painful. I've managed to (almost) graduate from a wheelchair to a walker, but using the walker was limited because I had no upper body support and eventually I would give in and lean over to rest my arm on the handle bars to help support the weight on the legs. I was starting to be naturally be bent over and by the time I got the UPWalker in early May of this year, often I found that I could not straighten up completely. It's taken me a while to get used to the turning radius of the UPWalker and even now I occasionally nick a baseboard. The key is to use the "stand up" grip to give the walker a better angle in a close turn. The walker itself is actually almost 2" less wide than my standard walker, but it's also about 2" longer than the standard (deluxe) walker. I've more than doubled my daily movement with this new walker and even went to an outside mall and did more walking than I've done in 10 years. I'm hooked and I can now stand up straight. When I was explaining to my doctors and other mobility specialists what I wanted to get to replace my old walker, they all looked at me like I was crazy. Once the medical community sees this walker and what it has done for me and its potential for other patients, I'm sure this style walker will become the standard of the future. UPDATE: I just told one of my doctors about the improvement in my mobility since I got the UPWalker and she looked it up to get the information to pass on to other patients.
