A chic solution to dry air. (Small - Med Rooms)
I used to wake up with a bloody nose each because of dry air. I bought these hoping they would add some humidity to my room while making no noise and keeping a minimalist décor. They have done absolutely brilliant in that. They add quite a bit of moisture to a small - medium sized room. The room feels less stuffy as well. One may have to refill them every other day and be cautious when handling (they are hollow and therefore fragile). However, they are definitely worth it. I also tend to let them dry out once or twice a week so I can wipe of any possible dust (which is a bit harder to do when somethings wet) and clean their basins. They certainly work and work well. Some are skeptical when they see "non-electric" but the science is sound. They work through process of evaporation. I would recommend this product highly. Edit 1 (half a year of use) : I speak for nobody else's experience in the following. I have noticed discolouring in the stones. They are now an off-white colour. However, that is fine with me and they are still fully functional. Though I do want to recommend letting them dry completely and letting them sit, even if for a couple of hours, before refilling. Just to make sure mildew/mold does not have the chance to grow inside the hollow. This is optional and an alternative would be to just hand/sponge wash with gentle soap and water on a regular basis. Or, to simply check them every once in a while and react accordingly. If the thought of having to prevent mildew/mold build up in a humidifier turns you off of it, remember that this applies to all humidifiers, electric or not. I still stand by my recommendation for this item.
