A handy way to floss when traveling
A lot of details and suggestions follow, but the bottom line is that I have no problem recommending this product. And one of the most important things to me about purchasing online is the customer service I can expect. I have dealt with this company before, and their customer service is 5-star and outstanding. (1) First order of business: charge the battery. I removed a small plastic tab that covered the charging terminal. I thought it was just for protection during shipping, and almost threw the tab out. I’m glad I didn’t. The next time I charged it, I saw that the terminal area was all wet, and it took awhile (blow dryer) to make sure it was dry and would not short out. So, my first suggestion is to explain in the instructions the need for keeping this plug in the unit between charges, and maybe even have some kind of plastic tether to the unit so that the plug won’t get lost. (2) Since I’m used to this kind of portable unit, I had no trouble adjusting. And the attachment (which is easy to connect and disconnect) swivels, so sometimes I kept my thumb on the power button (making it easy to change power levels or turn it off) and sometimes I rotated the attachment so that I could see the instrument panel in the mirror while I flossed. I also had no trouble adjusting the power level, which is important because my gums withstand a stronger flow than my tongue. (3) The charge lasted about 10 days. I’m completely satisfied with that. (4) My biggest dissatisfaction involved not knowing that the reservoir tank is removable. It was only while reading this frequent criticism on other reviews that I learned it IS removable and you just have to tug hard. Why not explain that in the instructions? Still, when the tank is removed, it provides larger-but-still-too-small access to make it easy to dry it out or clean it. I can’t help feeling that it would be possible to design a tank with COMPLETE access, since some competing models do provide that. Also, my larger stay-at-home unit has a slide adjustment on the handle (to govern the force of the flow), instead of buttons. So, when I want to lower the level for my tongue, I just slide it down one notch. On this one, I have to cycle through all 4 other levels. The slide adjustment works great, and even has a full shut off for the flow. A final word on the size. My previous flosser was smaller (better for saving space when packing) and had a hard shell carrying case (better for protection with checked baggage). I think the other reservoir was a smaller, but either way, it takes one refill to finish the job.
