Worth the Money
So this isn't the most advanced OBD reader, but for the price it's great. I bought it because I was going to look at some fixer upper cars I was thinking of buying, and it's great being able to check if the check engine light code is on for the reason the owner claims it is without going to a mechanic. Of course, I still recommend getting a mechanic to look at a car you're serious about buying, but this has helped me rule out several lemons without wasting more time. Also nice to be able to share with my friends when their check engine light come on-- So many check engine light codes can just be the seal of the gas cap failing or failure to tighten the gas cap enough-- why pay a mechanic $60+ to tell you you need to replace a $20 part or just be more careful when you can just have one of these on hand? Booklet contains the universal codes, if you get a manufacturer specific one, you'll need to look it up online, which is very easy with Google.
