I have bought other towels at 3 times this price that don't meet the quality and functionality of the Alfamo towel. All the chilling towels work on evaporative cooling of water. Water must rapidly evaporate to cool. High relative humidity in the air lowers water evaporation rate. We use these towel when sailing in warm Gulf water or high humdity. Their bright color fabric side has specialty exposure to evaporate water faster than other towels. The towel length allow more functional use around entire face and neck. What we liked the most is that the extra towel length is cooling (evaporating) while the part in skin contact is removing body heat. I simply shift the warmed towel to the left or right for more cooling. You get almost continuing cooling with this towel. Good job on design and price. I am buying 2 more for guests on our boat. After reading about discounts for a review (not me) and many not understanding how cooling towels work ( I am an engineer), I thought I would explain the technology. 1) When water evaporates it cools (like sweat on you skin). The lower the relativity humidity outside, the faster water evaporates. 2) 100% percent relative humidity like raining outside ( no evaporation). Wind or moving air evaporates water faster. 3) Snapping the towel removes excess water , thus letting water in the fabric to be first to evaporate and cool the fabric. 4) The cooled fabric in contact with the skin, removes the body heat. Meanwhile the excess fabric is cooling or re-cooling. 5) The towel must be re-wet to resupply the evaporated water. 6) The more "surface area" in the fabric the faster the cooling. (Alfamo's soft high surface area fabric is the key) 7) Any ole cotton towel would work, but not as well design to maximize evaporative cooling or comfort. 8) If you are sweating a lot, rinse the "salty water" out from time to time.
