Awesome shower head (plus leak-prevention installation tip)
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt this one was worth my time to help others.
--- Short version ---
The shower head and included hardware is top quality and both looks and functions great. Customer service is also outstanding.
If you install and get a leak in the metal bracket, uninstall and add the two spare black rubber o-rings inside the threaded section of the bracket (on top of the sand filter o-ring), then reinstall.
--- Long version ---
The first time I installed the shower head (following the included instructions), there was a leak in the metal mounting bracket. The threaded section of the metal bracket spins freely relative to the hose/shower head mount section, and the leak occurred at the interface between the two.
After toying around a bit and not finding a solution, I contacted the seller for any advice on possible adjustment or to send me a replacement bracket since mine was suspected faulty. The seller responded quickly and sent me a new bracket within a few business days! Unfortunately, I had the same issue with the replacement bracket. It was now time for troubleshooting mode with the help of a friend....how many engineers does it take to install a shower head :P.
We realized the threads were getting tight before the shower head pipe (coming from the wall) contacted the sand filter o-ring inside the threaded section of the metal bracket. This meant the threaded section still spun quite freely relative to the hose mount section. We found two spare black rubber o-rings in the original box, and we added those inside the threaded section on top of the sand filter o-ring. After re-installing, no leaks!
To summarize: the shower head pipe (coming from the wall) NEEDS to contact and snug up against the o-ring(s) inside the metal bracket threaded section. This causes a force pulling the threaded section away from the hose mount section, and this force is required to seal the interface between the two.
--- Conclusion ---
It took a bit of time to get everything working, but I'm glad I went through the effort because the shower head is very nice. The metal bracket is really something compared all the plastic stuff out there on other options. I hope this review prevents any future headaches and allows people to enjoy what is a quality shower head.
