Yellow Bug Light Review. Works here!
Have two of these TCP RLAS155WY LED Yellow bug lights on my front porch. I previously had an regular CFL light and then one of these GE bug lights - GE Lighting 47464 Energy Smart CFL Bug Light 14-Watt (60-watt replacement) 750-Lumen Postlight Bulb with Medium Base. The regular CFL lights was the worst at this house. I could not come in at night with moths and various smaller insects coming in. The GE light was not much better. I could swear there were a few less bugs but it was bad enough that my wife said there was no difference. This light...this light...AMAZING. Nothing...No bugs...Zero...Nada...period! I can not sing enough praise for this light. I am guessing that the LED combined with the yellow must be trick. The GE bug light being CFL would still get somewhat warm. This light being LED is cool to the touch at all times and completely yellow. Also, I live on the edge of a small town in Kansas so there are plenty of bugs. It is also dark outside when I don't have lights running. These lights, again being LED lights, direct the light downwards rather than upwards. Thus, there is plenty of light near my door and out about 8 - 10 feet down my walkway in the front yard. However, there is no light towards the sky and thus no light pollution; and the stars are still bright outside even when right next to these.
