I received these clippers just a few days ago, and I used them on my dog with great success! I used to live in a home with a rock-like surface surrounding my pool, so when my dachshund ran around outside, his claws naturally stayed short; I never had to worry about clipping them. Since the time we moved from our home, I could see Jackson's (my dog) claws were growing, but I had no idea how rapidly or how painful they could be for him. Jackson is a PTSD dog - a believed survivor of a puppy mill and a survivor of the streets. I knew this was going to be a challenging task... and it was. My first go'round was with an electric filer/sander, which he didn't like at all, and I didn't like, because I couldn't tell if I was burning him. So, I waited a couple months more (I feel like an awful dog mommy), and I purchased these clippers. One main reason for my decision was because of the guard, as Jack has black claws. As I'd never done this before, and as Jack's feet were in pain and red and irritated from licking them incessantly, and as Jac screams like its the end of his life when anything new happens to him... we sat down and cut his front paws!!! More than that - WE BOTH SURVIVED THE PROCESS!!! The product created a clean cut, the guide was extremely helpful, and even with a terrified, squirming dog, fighting me for his life, we were able to get the front paws done. And I don't believe that doing the back paws will be nearly an ordeal. As an inexperienced owner, you're product helped me tremendously, because it gave me confidence that the clipping I was doing wasn't cutting to the quick and that I was being safe with him and could have faith in what I was doing, regardless of his overreactive behavior, because I was following the directions, I was using the guide, as well as common sense. I was so thankful that I had chosen YOUR product out of all the others, and I woul highly recommend it to beginners and professionals equally. Now, Jack can relax, as seen below (about 10 minutes after our experience). PS - If I could give more than five stars, I would!
