Economical solution (redneck ingenuity) to warming in ground pool.
I purchased this and also a 12 foot version of same product for my freeform inground pool. We wanted to get it warmed up a bit as we just had it refinished and refilled so the water was a little chilly for swimming. Initially, I looked at the sun rings product. They run around $30 for one 5 ft diameter ring. According to their recommendations, I would have needed approximately 17 of these things!
This was my redneck solution to 17 sun rings at $30 a pop. I put the 12 ft one in the wider portion of pool and 10 ft one in narrower. Total cost was about $40 total. In retrospect, I could have bought 2 12 ft ones but it's fine. Some of you are probably wondering, why didn't she just buy a cover that would cover the entire pool? Good question...I don't want to have to store something that large when not in use (most of the time) nor do I want to be out on my lanai wrasslin' a giant sheet of bubble wrap onto or off of my pool.
It takes me only a few minutes to get them onto or off of the pool and folded up. I've not yet tried to origami them into the nice zippered bags they came with but it seems like it might actually be possible. I can't speak to durability since I've only had them a short time, but I expect they will be okay since I won't actually have them out and exposed to the sun a whole lot.
