About the Runout (Wobble)
I took a chance on this version of the drill guide, despite the warnings in many reviews on chuck runout. These problems must have been isolated or fixed as I can't seem to replicate it with the unit I received.
I bought my guide in April 2019. Using a dial indicator, I measured runout at about 0.010 in (radially) near the top of the bit. So the bit/chuck wobbles less than 1/64" radially.
Measured at the same place on the Forstner bit, I get about double the runout using my (well worn) Milwaukee M18 drill.
In hindsight, I should have measured this right near the cutting face, near the base of the bit.
Comparing this against a drill press is a bit ridiculous. Frankly I haven't seen anything on the market more accurate that allows you to bring the drill to the work for less than $50.
Pros: Metal construction in almost all parts. It feels sturdy
Cons: Not accurate enough for a DIY root canal
I haven't tested the longevity of the tool, or the accuracy of the angles vs a standard drill block, but I will update this review if I do.
