Why I'll be re-purchasing this expensive bully stick
My 11-month-old yellow lab is an aggressive chewer. For those of you fortunate enough to be unfamiliar with that term, it basically refers to a dog that can destroy your shoes while they're still on your feet and will leisurely eat through two feet of baseboard while waiting for you to hop out of a quick shower. Needless to say, I'm always on the lookout for long-lasting, edible treats and chew toys. And I'm usually disappointed, being that it takes my dog about five minutes to wolf down a large cow ear, about ten minutes to rip through an average size bulky stick, and about fifteen minutes to eviscerate the toughest stuffed doggie toy on the market. So while it somewhat offended my sensibilities (not to mention my wallet) to shell out $17 for a "monster" bully stick, I took a chance and purchased this item. Without a doubt, the monster bully stick gave my dog the best jaw-chomping workout of his young life -- in fact, when I removed it from his grip at the halfway mark he almost looked relieved. All in all, it took my aggressive chewer two 45-minute sessions to consume this product. I'm guessing it would last at least twice as long in the mouth of an average chewer. Using simple dollar-for-dollar, minute-by-minute mathematics, I was forced to conclude this $17 bully stick is actually a good deal. I'll be buying it again. Over and over, I suspect. Oh -- and the odor is bearable. Not non-existent, mind you, but definitely bearable. Great item.
