Bought this to help soften a new mattress which ended up being too firm. I am mostly a side sleeper and a smaller guy (5'9", 155lbs). Every morning I was waking up with pain in my hips and shoulders, just was not getting a good night's rest because I could not get comfortable. I called the company directly who sells this (sleep on latex) and spoke to a Mike which was very helpful and recommended this 3" soft topper based upon my situation. With the topper on, I am once again getting a good nights sleep. While laying on my side, my hips, shoulders, etc do not compress the topper enough to even make contact with the firm mattress. Given this, all morning pain has stopped completely. For anybody not familiar with latex foam, it is nothing like memory foam. The topper moves with you as you move at night. i.e. You don't really sink into the topper at all, it springs right back as you move. I've tried down toppers and got tired of them as their contents always shifted leaving lumps all over the mattress, even after shaking them out weekly. Bough the Twin XL to cover half of a King mattress and the cut/fit was perfect. My spouse who prefers the firmer mattress can continue enjoying the firmness while I can enjoy the latex topper. One last thing, the company sells 3 levels of firmness: soft, medium, and firm. This soft topper I found to still be a little on the firm side but still plenty cushioning. If you are buying a topper to soften a mattress, I'd have to imagine the medium and firm would be way too hard. I kind of wish the soft was a little softer still, but still very pleased with it. You can't go wrong. Appreciate that it's 100% natural as well!
