Best cat tracker
I have a small cat, 7.5 lbs, who is an indoor outdoor cat and likes to hunt at night. Over the past year, I have tried multiple different trackers for her and this one is by far my favorite. I have tried many different trackers for her, including PawFit, Jiobit and Whistle. The Tractive collar was by far my favorite, so much so that when Tractive came out with this collar, the cat specific one, I bought it for her and traded my dog’s Whistle collar for her old Tractive. Pros of this collar: - Designed specifically to track pets. The Jiobit was not, and as a result, I felt like the whole Tractive interface is much better. - Amazing user friendly app. I love the app. It’s super easy to use and has cool features like allowing your pet to “compete” with others in the area for most activity. Also, it allows you to share access of your cat’s location and stats with family and friends. - Affordable. Not only is the collar cheap, but the plan is also significantly less expensive. I pay a little extra for the protection plan - Great “extra” features. The tracker does fun stuff, like tracking my cat’s active minutes, calories burned, calm minutes and time sleeping. It’s fun -Great tracking features. The tracker has live tracking, where your cat’s location updates every 2-3 seconds. The tracker also has a light on it which blinks during live tracking. When my cat is in the woods and I want to get her in, live tracking gets me close enough to her to see the blinking light in the dark and I’m able to get her in. Also, the app has virtual geofences and has the option to give you notifications when your cat enters or leaves the virtual fence. I put one around my yard. This feature is extremely useful for trying to get the cat in during the day or in the evening, as it gives her a notification when she enters the yard and I can go outside and grab her. - Decent accuracy. This tracker is not always the most accurate, especially in areas where cell service is bad (for me, a small area of woods behind my house and inside parts of my house). HOWEVER… I wouldn’t say any of the trackers I have tried for my cat are superb Cons of this collar: -power saving Wi-Fi zone. I was really excited when tractive introduced this because it is one of my favorite features on my dog’s whistle tracker. However, tractive didn’t do a great job with this. I felt like it interfered with my virtual fences. I wish the tracker would actually connect to Wi-Fi the way that the Whistle collars do, and then you could use whether or not the collar is in Wi-Fi range as a way to know if your cat was in the vicinity or not. - bulky. It’s a little big for my 7.5lb cat. However, it connects nicely to her collar. The new rubber sleeve that comes with the cat collar is significantly more comfortable for her than the other tractive collar was for her. I honestly don’t think she minds wearing it though. - appearance. Again, the cat-specific collar is a huge upgrade and I much prefer the navy sleeve. I just wish it was a little smaller. Overall: I am in love with this collar. It is easy to use, has cool extra features and overall, gets the job done at a fraction of the cost as a whistle or Jiobit tracker. I would highly recommend for people like me with indoor-outdoor cats that don’t like to come in at night.
