I'm the mother of a special needs 17 year old girl. And while she functions at about a 10 year old level, she is very aware of what her peers are doing and recently wants to follow the social norms, which is amazing for us. It started with shaving her armpits (I do it for her) since she swims several times a week, as well as for hygiene. She had mentioned shaving her legs several times (as in constantly) but due to an accident with one of my razors when she was about 12 (still has the scar), she's very afraid of shaving her legs, even letting me do it. So I've kind of kept in my mind that maybe a hair removing lotion is what we'd be looking at someday. Well, she turned 17 this past week and it's summer, so I figured we'd go for it. It was available for about $6 at Target, and I had a $2 coupon as well as a Target Cartwheel for 20% off, so why not? The reviews were more good than bad and it was for sensitive skin, which she and I both have. I tested it on myself first, a small strip on my shin, which hadn't been shaved in a couple of days. I waited exactly 5 minutes and wiped it off with a warm washcloth and by God...it left a bare, shiny patch of skin with no stubble. No burning, no itching, no redness. I waited another hour just to make sure and then tested it on her. Same thing, a square about the size of half of a Hershey Bar. Watched her closely to make sure she wasn't uncomfortable or hurting in any way and wiped it off after exactly 5 minutes and NO HAIR. On a pretty hairy little leg that's never seen a shaving. No redness, not a single hair left. I'm really impressed, guys. Cheap, easy on our skin and quick. No one's bleeding, no one's soaked from leaning into someone else's shower..this is a big deal for us. The smell was pretty "home-perm" invasive, but for that little inconvenience, still very much worth it. For anyone who hasn't tried it, especially a parent of a special needs girl, give it a shot!
