My hair dresser told me silk pillowcases are the best for your hair. I have thin, fine hair and am (gasp) aging so I need all the help I can get to keep my girlie hair. This case fits over my standard sized footlevelers pilopedic pillow. To wash: i recommend if you don't want to wash them by hand, purchase zippered garment bags that you get for lingerie/bras to wash in the washer, wash in cold water in the gentle cycle and hang dry. (They sell a 6 pack zippered bags on Amazon that gives 2 different sizes, one size fits this case perfectly so it can lay flat in the bag so you feel the entire case gets washed without being ruined. I think I got them for like $8 or $10 and now I have the smaller ones for my bras.) When it's almost dry (or fully dry), iron on silk heat setting to get the wrinkles out. The iron helps bring enough heat to the pillowcase without ruining it like your dryer will. I just wouldn't iron it straight out of the washer, let it air dry for a bit first. My pillowcases still look and feel new, soft, non-pilled and I purchased these in July 2018.
