honestly the book makes Selena seem a little abusive. Chris makes it sound normal but Selena always got her way and didn’t seem to put his feelings into consideration. She basically forced him to marry her. He said no at first, it was too soon and he didn’t wanna go behind her parent’s back. He kept talking her out of it but she kept begging until he said yes. There’s another story in the book where Selena didn’t like her car because it never got compliments and she kept begging him for a new car, she really like his car because it got a lot of attention. Again, he tried talking her out of it but sure enough— he gave in and gave her his car since she liked it so much. Another story, she really liked his new motorcycle and kept begging him to let her drive it. He didn’t want her to because it was too dangerous but AGAIN- he gave in and said yes..she went on the highway and everything and it was only luck that she didn’t kill them.. also, when Yolanda told her to go alone to the motel, Chris said please don’t go alone and we will sort it out later. Well she ended up going alone without telling him or anyone..it cost her, her life which is very sad.. he made it all sound like a love story which I’m sure they were in love but She seemed to be a little controlling.. another time in the book , he wanted to join a rock band but she said “you join and we are over”...I think he put up with all of it because they were still pretty much the honeymoon stage and he wanted her to always be happy..but I think In the long run, he would have eventually gotten tired of always saying yes to her & always letting her get HER way while his feelings were pushed aside..I don’t think he even realizes that she sounds controlling in the book. He made it sound like it was a cute thing.. The whole family had Chris wrapped around their finger. He is an amazing guy, respectful and he’s the one who ended up hurt the most in the end due to their actions. To this day, he still hurts. The book made me a little sad that he dealt with all of their abuse
