This is what I wanted: A comfortable lap desk that can keep my computer from overheating on my legs (or on my comforter if I'm working in bed). From studying a billion reviews, a lot of people complained about the lap desks with fans breaking down easily. So, I finally disqualified them all. The cushy Belkin seems to too bulky (for travel for instance) and apparently worsens the heat. At the end of the day, I just needed something economical and practical. And this is it. One reviewer mentioned that the material "flexes" and "lets the laptop easily slide". Not true in my opinion. It's got just a little give but nothing that would make it unstable at all. The rubber guard in the front of the lap desk is great plus the small rubber discs underneath my laptop help keep my computer firmly in place. If anything, you can add more friction using Self-Adhesive Rubber Bumper Pads. But I haven't found that necessary in my case. Lastly, the cushion underneath is a foam material with good thickness. This cost me $19.99 at the time of my purchase. If you too are looking for something plainly functional and the highest quality for the best price, this is the lap desk for you!
