Our old TV was starting to show signs of aging, although it was usable, I was ready to dive into (well sort of) the new smart TV scene as our last one wasn't. We've owned Sony's since before I met my wife, and that was back in the mid 80's. There's a reason why they're in every major TV studio in the country. They're known for their beautiful picture. Ordered this one instead of the more advanced Sony 800E 43" because I don't like Android anything. But I did want basic Smart TV. And this provided what I need-- Amazon Prime, Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, Pandora, and a lot more. Without the annoying Android interface. The interface runs very fast and is easy to navigate. I'm not too thrilled about the remote because it's a bit of a learning curve to learn how to use the two circles of buttons around the center Enter button. But once I got it down I can do it in the dark now. The initial setup was easy. Sony found my wifi network with no problem. I enter security challenges and was in. Eventually i'm going to add a Cat6 cable instead of wifi. Faster, and more secure. On to the picture setup. The picture is beautiful out of the box. I left it on Standard video display but boosted the Black function a bit and took a few notches off the color level. It was just too saturated for realism. The sound was nearly perfect except I turned on the equalizer and bumped up the last three high frequency levels nearly to full Turned up 100, 200, and 300Hz a couple notches. Then I boosted the "Volume Offset" from 50% to 100%. The sound is excellent now.You have to increase the volume offset or it will sound quiet. I think a lot of customers didn't follow through with all the settings. The factory settings are only a starting point. But if you go through every menu and tune each item to your liking, you will really love the final results of this TV. I toyed around with trying the new TCL TV's due to the built-in Roku system which seems to get a lot of love by customers, but I watched a few youTube videos about the new TCL's and in picture quality the Sony exceeded TCL. I'm mainly watching my TV for the picture quality. The TV itself arrived in a heavy duty Sony box delivered kindly by your local FedEx guy. Unboxing, it took about 30 minutes of slow, careful setup and reading all the getting started literature first. Now that it's set up I can say with conviction that the 4K standard is truly light years ahead of HD. I thought HD was beautiful, but even watching older standard DVD's the TV upscales them and makes them look gorgeous. Hard to believe we got such a beautiful TV for such a good price. I could have saved one hundred clams ordering on the following Monday (Cyber Monday) but I had already ordered on Black Friday and the TV's price was already dropped. Next year another Sony for the bedroom but it will be ordered on Cyber Monday. This Sony is easy for wife to use. It automatically paired with our Tivo remote but I still use the Sony Remote to go to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube when wife is in the bedroom. She hates technology but actually loves the new TV. This product is highly recommended. It will give the best picture over LG, TCL, Samsung, you name it. And in the settings menu, there's an 800 number to call while it displays the serial number for you. Buy this and you will be smiling a long time.
